Reality Bites (NOT LIVING IN TV LAND PEOPLE!)
Doesn’t make sense to me, how people think about certain issues in our economy. You would think that teachers would get a higher respect due to their ability to pass knowledge on to the future of the world. There wouldn’t be pilots, doctors, future teachers, psychiatrist, etc…without teachers of today! They talk about capping our doctors; if they do that, could you really trust they would put a 110% in doing what they normally do on a daily basis? Come on, do you blame them? They save lives, they bring life into our world, come up with cures and new ways of medicine everyday…
I think the cosmetic surgeons should be capped! Only because, what does your looks have to do with your health or how you live your life? I think the Entertainment Business should be capped! Hollywood seems to be exempt from EVERYTHING! We arrest people and send them to prison all the time for crimes that we see on TV on our Reality Shows. For example; with parents consent a 20 year old still cannot date a 16 year old without going to prison for statutory rape, being a predator, or a pedophile; but its okay if you’re famous. See it all the time and their open about it. Pictures of it! Talk about Evidence or proof…Drunk drivers spend their life in prison or without being behind another wheel, but if you’re an actor it’s okay! One day of prison and a slap on wrist will fix that problem right up. If you haven’t caught the sarcasm, I was being sarcastic…Snorting cocaine on TV to show addiction and not being put in handcuffs. Why? We talk about fighting and arresting the people due to the war on drugs. Spending millions of dollars on this cause, but yet the people of Hollywood does it with millions of witnesses and doesn’t have to pay the reprocautions that a normal person would without fame or money do. Spend a week in our shoes, and I can bet you can’t make it through the day. Our own president of the United States of America doesn’t even get paid as much as the actors, actresses, athletics, and other entertainers of our country do. And he runs the country or at least tries! Has anyone thought to tax their pay, or cap their pay? I think everyone should (in that industry) get a percentage or cut and the access money should be put into a fund account of some kind. Could you imagine how much money our country would save or even sit on for year of that?
We do cut backs, pay cuts, and lay off people on a daily basis so the executives could still have their million dollar bonuses or private jets…and no one questions the amount that goes into our entertainment industry. Do you ever see them having cut backs, pay cuts, or being laid off? They get to live in a fantasy world forever, and living there life not knowing who they really are. I may not be rich and shameless, but I can say that I know exactly who I am and what I am about. Doesn’t help that people worship them and idealize them in every way. Seriously, what are you idealizing? Are you that desperate or blind? No, I can tell you what is wrong with the ones that follow the fame…their confused, they don’t want to live the way we do, because we do work hard and we are unnoticed! Why would you hear a cry of a common person, when you believe everything that comes out of the mouths of people who has everything! Money does talk, and that is sad. You’re not seeing that you are being bought out as a human being, just by keeping your mouths shut and your eyes closed. How about the red carpet…millions excited to see how much money can go into one outfit…the most unique, exquisite, the most expensive, etc… we feed into it. We are blinded once again by it! While there are families out on the streets, people without jobs, shelter, food, etc… The economy is making it worse for us to even survive.
100 years ago a spouse was able to stay at home raise the kids, while the other provided and they still managed. We had the highest number of middle class in the country. We didn’t tax everything and our country still prospered. Now, now EVERYTHING is taxed, and we’re in debt as a country, and most live in poverty. There is no “Middle Class” any more; you’re either poor or your filthy rich! We can’t even depend on the welfare system to be of assistance. Our government trying to find ways to take God out of the picture; thinking that we would lose faith in him and have faith in them. When, all it’s doing is bringing the people closer to God and losing faith in our Government. A government, who closes their eyes to see what true reality is and it’s not like the ones you see on TV, covers their ears to the screaming voices that want to be heard! What about the people making the choices and that we mattered, and that our opinions mattered and counted for something! We’re so caught up in worrying about other countries that our own country has been neglected. It’s only the beginning, it’s getting worse! What about this “Go Green”? You talk about hairspray and car exhausts is the one causing the hole in the Ozone Layer…okay, then explain to me how many gallons of ROCKET FUEL leaves our atmosphere every time we send a spaceship to outer space? The atmosphere is to keep stuff in, not to leave continuously…now we’re making trips and weddings there. STOP WATCHING SCIFI Channels, it has corrupted your brains. What is it going to take before you realize you are the ones destroying our atmosphere! Haven’t you heard the saying Curiosity Killed the Cat? Well, stop trying to find other planet habitable to live and start fixing the mess you’ve already created! Why destroy and make a mess of other planets. We have the ability and the brain to create good, but we use it to create more problems. I think it’s a waste of a gift that was given to us. Wasting money on wrong causes! Wasting valuable time on wrong issues on hand!!! Letting our government and strong country crumble! Nothing stays on top forever, but that doesn’t mean help it fall either! All I’ve got to say is the same things our parents have been telling us for generations…You must get your priorities straight if you want to make a difference in Anything!

The Blessing of Strength
Strenth is an important character quality. however, most women don't want to be known for their rippling muscles, flexed to iron firmness-not that most women work to achieve that physical condition. however, there are other kinds of strenth besides physical strenth. An old movie called "Steel Magnolias" honored the power of the inner strenth that can be found in women. Emotional strenth carries you through painful losses and relationship difficulties. Spiritual strenth draws you closer to God, helping you withstand temptations and doubts. Of course, the actual source of all strenth is God. He is the iron rod that will hold you up; keep you going when you thing you can't take another step; move you forward when you can't see the path. he loves you and because of that love He promises never to leave you; promises to walk with you through whatever life brings. He promises to be your strength when you haven't got the strength to hold your head or hand.

To Keep Watch over all of you,
The ones fighting for the Red, White, and Blue;
To guard and protect in everything you do,
When I whipered to our Father,
I asked for him to bring a touch of love and goodness,
Sent forth on angel's wings;
I ask them to lay whisper,
of peace and joy upon your ear;
That thoughts of happiness and laughter,
would be all you hear,
Then I asked of him,
to shine upon your faces;
An extra special blessing of his mercy and his grace,
Tonight I shall ask him,
to grant another request...
That angels stand watch over you all,
and for one night have a peaceful rest,
So, if you feel a brush of wings,

It's amazing how one part of the worlld could be so calm and still, and the other filled with horror and fear. not understanding how one could fear life itself? In order to have peace is to have war. The faces of these boys and firls who fight for the freedom of others, has yet his adolescense and others...well have so much to risk. Families who mourn for the loss of their loved ones. Some not even old enough to consume alcohol, but yet old enough to fight and die for their country. The weight of the world lies on their shoulders. How can one deal with pressure as this? The things they've see, others could only imagine and dream of in their nightmares! The colors of the flag runs through their veins, with passion and rage. Not only does the flag stand for what they believe in, but they live by it, and stand by it! The flag bleeds through their veins. They do what they have to at any cost. They are scared as we, but show no fear. They cry, but shed no tear. We weep for their pain, fears, and misery. They might not feel it, because its their duty; but they are true heros, like any other who puts their life for others!!! Whom we are proud of, and thank God every day that we're free!!! evening stills;
trees - wetted with rain -
stand and face a purple sun.
Listen to calls
pulse - a swell of birds
flickering nuances
cooing, echoing
beating little hearts
(inside my skull
I also am wittering and twittering)
Overhead; leaves lurch
wave on turning ocean wave
beckoning light: moving church,
urging Nature, lusting life.

it starts with a tickle;
in the belly,
nebula.
It ends with a poke
between two ribs
and a husky giggle.
It starts with a flash
of a sideways eye;
a tiny smile.
It ends with a lean;
the slightest fall
and a body-check.
Its starts with a pulse
through a softer drum;
an urge to move.
It ends in a leap
to a standing pose
and a crazy dance.
It starts with heat
in a burgeoning core
rising, rising.
It ends with a word,
soft clear magma,
melting eyes.

and find shock words to rhyme
with 1 2 3
like bum, poo, pee.
Second thing:
wind down a window,
laugh shoulders
at brothers getting cold
and wet with rain.
Third thing:
thump me on the arm,
and warm with a smile
‘You OK Dad?’ and I reply ‘Yes, you OK?’
face ahead, say ‘Fine’.
Fourth thing:
look sidelong from a knowing eye
as if you clock what’s going on;
that you know I know when I nod back,
that, yes, I get it, this lifetime,
your Work.

An Eden Conception
A raindrop, unaccountably round,
plunges into Mallerstang;
Eden valley, Victorian dark,
the last great wilderness in England.
People come here briefly;
a monarch, a highwayman,
a thief, an earl, a tramp to see
rivers rise – the Ouse and Eden -
and if this raindrop falls an atom’s width
to the East, it runs to York;
a molecule West, Carlisle.
On and on, the future forks
and this drop will not travel both.
Race into a great valley;
ginger gorse: an undomesticated,
wild, wet second world, happy
when earth and wind decide
what’s right and left, that it’s worth
a surging newborn driving to
a source, a smash, a violent birth.

I Love you
and your perfect ask
‘Would you scratch my back?’ is enough
to stretch out hands because folk who love
happily scratch backs where a person can’t reach
and the perfect one
is the kind without give and take
repercussion; like a given scrape
of skin without expectation of return.
No; it’s not for gain;
no transacting for dividend,
economics, or seeking a friend,
but a reaching act of warmth and fingernails;
like a one way kiss,
my itch stopping behaviour
-simpler than poetry can carry-
back scratching seems, in love, all there really is.

A Birth
I’m painting windows
listening to noise outside;
teenagers shouting above an autumn wind.
Normal teenage girls, I guess.
Normal?
Back to Andrew’s birth and a room
- sky blue and white – high on a hill
in Yorkshire. For 40 minutes in a life
he seemed normal. Then
they said I should hold him
and so I did
as any firstborn father cradles – clumsily -
and he transformed:
‘Down’s Syndrome probably’ they said.
Shock. Grievous. Tears soaked
through family. Loss
of expectation flowed.
We couldn’t see! Embarrassing now, unaware,
as I clumsily drip paint onto cold pink hands,
that a teacher had been born.

Early Morning
ice, hard as stone

Sons radiate upstairs
- I sit in new light
reading Emily Dickinson –
voices vibrate, doors
slam, open and re-slam.
The house cracks and a clock
ticks second by second.
